Connect with God

Make NYWC a sacred place where you spend time with the One who called you to youth ministry. We've designed special times, places and opportunities for you to rest and reconnect with God.

Convention Pastors

Spiritual Direction

If you're feeling God's absence, struggling in your prayer life, or are simply seeking to deepen your intimacy with God, make a private, confidential appointment with one of the spiritual directors.

Spiritual Direction is an historic Christian practice where one Christian helps another pay attention to, and notice, our true spiritual director, the Holy Spirit. The underlying assumption of spiritual direction is that God draws us to God (through the work of Jesus and the Holy Spirit). God initiates, we respond. This is the Christian life. But how do we hear God in the midst of our busy routines and demanding relationships? Meeting with a spiritual director is like pushing the pause button on life just long enough to reflect, get honest, and ask, "God, where are you in the midst of all this?" so that we might begin to hear God's response and live deeper in the awareness of God's presence.

Prayer Chapel

You can ALWAYS find a quiet place where you can decompress, wrestle with God, or simply listen to what God wants you to hear in this sacred space designed to inspire prayer and reflection.

Labyrinth

One of our most popular prayer spaces, the Labyrinth uses meditative words and music to guide you on a one-hour reflective journey. The Labyrinth gives you space and time for spiritual and personal reflection in a world that crowds it out.

Sanctuary - New This Year!

Sanctuary is a series of guided spiritual formation offerings that will take place on Saturday and Sunday during NYWC. There is no additional cost or registration process in order to be involved in Sanctuary—simply show up to the offerings that speak to you.

The offerings include holistic ways to connect with God, such as:

  • Art

  • Family Life
  • Grief
  • Rest
  • Lectio Divina
  • Liturgical Prayer Services
  • Prayer of Examen
  • Stations of the Cross
  • Centering Prayer
  • Icons

Sanctuary will also provide a place for people to receive prayer, offer confession, and take communion.

Soul Care Seminars

These seminars are offered throughout the convention and focus on your life with God. See schedule for specific times and offerings.

Prayer Services

Also known as the Divine Hours, these are daily, set times, when believers stop what they are doing in order to "bend a knee" to God in the midst of their daily routine. This is one of the oldest disciplines in Judeo Christianity and ties us in to both the church universal and the church historic. Three times a day during the convention we will gather in the prayer chapel for:

LAUDS (Morning) Latin for praise, this 30-minute service is a simple liturgy of scripture, silence, and spoken prayer, designed to help us turn our hearts and minds towards God as the day begins.
MID-DAY This 15-minute service is designed to briefly interrupt our day and gently direct our focus towards God.
COMPLINE (Night) This 15-minute service is the liturgical equivalent of being tucked into bed. We confess, listen to God through Scripture and silence, and ask God to watch over us as we sleep. On Sunday, communion will be offered during Compline for those who desire to partake in this holy feast.

Come join us in this work of God's people.

Guided City Prayer Walk

This offering, led by Archie Honrado, will allow you to turn your 'tourist jaunts' into an experiential prayer walk. Leave the convention center/hotel environment and in a labyrinth fashion, prayerfully journey through the neighborhood. We will practice opening our eyes and hearts to the presence of Christ through the sights, sounds, and smells of the city. The walk takes place on Saturday from 8:00 -10:00 am.
