SCHEDULE FOR NASHVILLE

The Role of Imagination in the Spiritual Formation of Adolescents
(Seminar Series #5)
Nov 23 3:30 PM-5:00 PM
Nashville

While defenders of Christianity attempt to barge through the front door of reason by arguing the case for Christ, the Holy Spirit has been slipping through the back door of the imagination and effecting spiritual change from the inside out. Such seems to be happening without our permission or even notice, and it’s time we started paying attention. So, what is the imagination? What role does it play in spiritual formation? How do we nurture the imaginations of youth?

Re-Imagining Confirmation: A New Approach to Passing on the Faith
(Seminar Series #6)
Nov 24 9:00 AM-10:30 AM
Nashville

If you work in a mainline church, confirmation may seem like conundrum. It’s so bogged down in tradition that it could sink. But if it stays afloat, then kids who otherwise don’t follow Jesus just might be saved. What to do? Sarah explores the idea that confirmation can be a transforming immersion in the unique “culture” of a church’s spiritual heritage, until the grammar, narratives, and practices of that heritage embody a living faith in Jesus.
