Mary's worked with Christian leaders of all ages, lay and ordained, for more than 30 years. She is currently responsible for congregational development, clergy deployment and leadership training in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh. Prior to that she taught in the areas of leadership and spirituality at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry for nine years and served congregations in Connecticut and Virginia. She has been married to the Rev. Whis Hays, founder and director of Rock the World Youth Mission Alliance. They are the parents of two grown children.
Here’s an opportunity to discover God’s constant, loving presence underneath all of our activities, words, emotions, and images. It’s also a place to notice how busy and distracted our minds and bodies can be. We’ll offer some suggestions to help you keep your focus on God, spend 20 minutes in silent prayer, and then have an open discussion about this prayer practice.
This session offers an exploration of various ways to cultivate intimacy with God, especially in the face of ministry challenges. Topics will include— • Various obstacles to intimacy with God, especially for youth leaders • Developing “holy habits,” ways to cultivate and sustain your relationship with God • Adapting spiritual practices in the face of changes in our life circumstances • Learning how to enjoy the goodness of God, day by day, even in the midst of hardship • Suggestions, practical tools, discussion, and practice
