BIOGRAPHY

April Diaz

April is the Next Gen Pastor at NewSong Church in Irvine, California. Prior to her current role, she was involved in Willow Creek's student ministries for 7 years in a variety of roles. April is wild about investing in 12-18 year olds and has intensely developed leaders to serve them. Secretly, she's a closet reality TV junkie, total girlie girl, reads more than she can put into practice, & still drools over her husband of over 7 years.

SCHEDULE FOR SACRAMENTO

She Leads Like a Girl
(HERstory Breakout Sessions)
Oct 9 3:30 PM-5:00 PM
Sacramento

At some point in our stories, the intersection of our gender and call to leadership collide. For some, it’s a calling that they—and others—embrace and celebrate at its onset. For others, it’s a source of confusion and anguish. Join us for a conversation about the wonder and complexities of being a female leader in the church and in life. Together, we’ll peel back this layered topic as we discuss the different ways to lead, how female leadership differs from male leadership, and how to live our lives stewarding this gift God gave to us.

It's a Hard-Knock Life: Learnings About and From Adolescent Girls
(HERstory Breakout Sessions)
Oct 10 8:00 AM-9:30 AM
Sacramento

We thought we had it bad as teenage girls! The life of an adolescent girl is increasingly complex, with body issues, societal issues, school issues, family issues, and global issues consuming their underdeveloped bodies and minds. (Just reading that last sentence makes me tired!) If you found it difficult to move from being a little girl to a blossoming woman, then you’ll relate to this beautifully intricate group of girls and feel primed to minister to them. I’ll share some of what I’ve learned from adolescent girls and move all of us into discovering the implications for our ministries. Join with me as we knock through the issues our teenage girls face and get more in touch with God’s heart for them.

Join me as we peel the layers off the issues that our middle school girls face and get more in touch with God’s heart for our groups of girls.
